I had finally found a moment of peace. The kids were soundly sleeping and I was tucked in a corner beside our Christmas tree. This is one of my favorite moments during the holiday - to sit with the tree, decorated and lit, after the house is quiet and take it all in. As I sat there I had to laugh at the thought of who ever decided to go into the woods, cut down a tree, bring it in the house, and then decorate it! As funny and weird as it seems, I enjoy it and look forward to it each year, so I’m glad someone was crazy enough to do it!
“Out of place” could easily describe this tradition that we have all grown so accustomed to. What a perfect way to celebrate our Lord and Savior - with a tradition that is out of place yet brings joy and peace. Jesus, born a King, a Savior to the world, was born in the most “out of place” surroundings for any baby, let alone a King. But this King, born into un-ordinary circumstances, brought everlasting and eternal Joy and Peace to all who choose to believe in him (John 3:16). This Christmas, as you take time to enjoy your “out of place” Christmas tree, think of our Lord. A Babe born in a manger, to save us all! Born to bring us Joy, Peace, Light and Hope!
“And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger..”
Luke 2:7
