Phil. 2:15-16 MSG

“Go out into the world uncorrupted, a breath of fresh air in this squalid and polluted society.
Provide people with a glimpse of good living and of the living God. Carry the light-giving Message into the night.”
Phil. 2:15-16 MSG

Redefining Our Faith

adapted from Hebrews 11

By faith we understand
By faith Abel brought
By faith Abel was commended as righteous
By faith Abel still speaks
By faith Enoch was taken
By faith Noah, in holy fear built
By faith Abraham, when called…went
By faith he made his home in the promised land
By faith Sarah was enabled
By faith Abraham when tested, offered
By faith Isaac blessed
By faith Joseph spoke
By faith Moses’ parents were not afraid
By faith Moses refused
By faith he left
By faith he kept
By faith the people passed through
By faith the walls fell
By faith the prostitute was not killed
Kingdoms were conquered
Justice administered
Promises gained
Lions mouths were shut
The edge of the sword was escaped
Weakness was turned to strength
Power was given in battle
The dead was raised to life again

What kind of faith do we have?  Is it anything compared to what we find here?

They were tortured, refusing to be released.  They face jeers and flogging, and even chains of imprisonment.  They were put to death by stoning; they were sawed in two; they were killed by the sword.  They were destitute, persecuted, mistreated and wanderers.  They did this in faith that they might gain a better resurrection.  The world was not worthy of them! They were longing for a better country - a heavenly one.  Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them!

This kind of faith wasn’t only for Noah, Moses, etc. - this kind of faith is for you.  If you feel misunderstood and confused, there is understanding!  If God is calling you, then go make your home in the land God has promised you!  If God is asking you to build, spiritually or physically, then build!  If God is testing you, then offer what it is He is asking.  With faith our walls can fall, we may pass through, our promises may be gained, mouths will be shut, strength will be given, power will be received in times of battle and it’s the same power that raised Christ from the dead!  With faith we can bring, we can speak, we can bless, we can refuse, we can leave, and we can keep!  With faith we need not fear!  If we choose to live a faith-filled life, our lives will speak long after we are gone from this earth.  The same God He was then, He is now and He will be eternally.  The God Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, and Joseph had such great faith in is the SAME GOD we serve TODAY!

Raise your faith high to the heavens.  Believe in the God of yesterday, today and tomorrow…His Word is true, His promises are true and He is always surpassingly faithful and just!   The same God that raised Christ from the dead is fully capable of raising your life again - it is not too late!

“Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek Him.”

There is power in our faith, if we chose to believe in it!  It’s time to redefine our faith!
