Phil. 2:15-16 MSG

“Go out into the world uncorrupted, a breath of fresh air in this squalid and polluted society.
Provide people with a glimpse of good living and of the living God. Carry the light-giving Message into the night.”
Phil. 2:15-16 MSG

Our Giants

Most of us know the story of David and Goliath.  Some of us have even turned to this story to find strength when facing our own personal battles.  There is so much to be learned about God’s faithfulness to a person with a heart for Him.  In 1 Samuel 17:32 David says “Let no one lose heart on account of this Philistine; your servant will go and fight him.”  As David looks at an entire army trembling in fear at the mere sight of Goliath, he knew their hearts were not right.  David’s heart is for God, he saw a giant, but more importantly he saw the truth of the situation.  This giant was in fact giant but his God was far more greater and mighty.  Since David’s heart was in the right place, his point of view was also made right.  David didn’t allow himself to be blinded by the situation or the circumstances at hand, he knew God was on his side and that’s all he needed to know.

We didn’t find David pacing from one side of the hill to the other, throwing up his arms and saying “why God? Why me? How God, how am I supposed to fight this giant?”

We didn’t find David seeking his best friend to get his opinion.

We didn’t find him looking for someone else who he thought may be well-equipped or skilled to do the task at hand.

Where do we find David?  At the battle line.

What do we find David doing there?  Stepping up.

He knows where he stands - with God on his side.  With knowing this, David never second guesses anything.  He knows there is a task to do, a giant to face, a battle to fight and he knows God will win.

What battles in your life are you facing?
What “giants” have you trembling in fear?
How are you handling these situations?
Are you running, hiding, questioning God, looking for someone else to do it, seeking others opinions?
Or are you stepping up and facing your giants knowing God is on your side?
